Welcome to the SuccessLab Podcast episode #3. In this episode, I’m in The Lab with Luke Kayyem, owner of SICIFT Scottsdale in Arizona. We talk a little bit about Hell Week, and the power of showing up, goal setting, and holding yourself accountable. So let’s do this.
Hey guys! Hope everyone is well! So in the last episode I talked a little bit about Hell Week, which was a 5-day challenge at my gym. It consisted of 2-a-day workouts for 5 straight days. The first workout of the day was a military style workout at 5 a.m. and it’s meant to push you to your limits and test your strength physically and mentally. I think when I last recorded I was only two days in and didn’t know what was ahead of me. It was challenging...I almost reached my breaking point on Thursday, but I completed it. What I learned, and I this applies to entrepreneurship, when things get tough or you feel overwhelmed, a good support system, focusing on your breath and your mind can get you through anything. Be aware of who you surround yourself with, remember to breath, and set your mind up for success. After we finished our final workout of the day, I interviewed Luke, our coach and owner of SICFIT, about how he continually finds success.
In this episode we talk about:
Thank you to Luke for sharing his story and secret sauce for success.
This week’s Biz Hack is not an online tool or app, but it’s fitting to this episode and actually came up in our mastermind meet up last week, and that is exercise. One of the guys in our group quit smoking about a month ago and he was noticing feelings of angst continually coming up. I’ve had my fair share of that too, usually if I’m stressed, had too much caffeine or not enough sleep. As we went around our roundtable offering up solutions, exercise and movement kept coming up. Even the simple act of taking a walk can help you de-stress, settle your nerves and help you think creatively. For me, working out is my detach time and I always feel renewed and ready to attack the workload ahead of me. It helps get your mind out of the minutia. Just find something that fits you whether it’s walking, riding a bike, yoga, rock climbing…we all need a release.
Quote of the Week:
This one comes from Walt Disney and it’s what he believes is the secret to making dreams come true. He says, “This secret, it seems to me can be summarized in four c’s. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of these is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.”
We had a couple listeners call in and share theirs - Paul’s goal is to file his incorporation forms and Andy is going to get his website launched. Thanks for sharing guys. Let us know if you completed them. My action item this week is to set my calendar and stick to it ruthlessly. My goal is to set aside time in the calendar for ongoing tasks and treat them as if they were appointments. What’s yours? If you’d like to share your action item, you can leave it in the comments section below or call it in here. We’ll be sure to hold you accountable.
Be sure to tune in next week! We’ll be in the lab with Jimmy Westenberg, editor of Android Guys. Until then, have prosperous week!
